Accessible textbooks and reference books
Many students with different types of reading difficulties are subscribed to the Library. Some are totally blind, some are visually impaired, learning impaired or have other types of difficulty in reading. The Library accompanies the students from first grade until they complete their higher education.
Most of the students who subscribe to the Library learn in ordinary schools. In order to assist their integration, the Library has taken upon itself to produce their textbooks – a difficult mission due to varied syllabuses that are partially based on visual material and that are changed frequently. The Library works in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, which takes action to ensure that all study material is accessible to blind and visually impaired students.
Recorded textbooks remain in the possession of the student throughout the academic year while Braille textbooks remain with the students indefinitely, and do not have to be returned to the Library.
