Books in Braille

The Library initiated the development of Hebrew Braille. Nissan Schwech was the first to lay the foundation, and Rivka Rosenzweig expanded, developed and designed Hebrew Braille. The books that she wrote contributed to its distribution and use among readers, teachers, parents and the general public. Her extensive activity over decades was characterized by her great talent, dedication and volunteerism. Her books are available in the Library.

The Library’s Braille system includes computers, optical scanners, special software, advanced Braille printers, and above all, a skilled team that puts a lot of thought into converting printed books to Braille.

The Library contains about 6,000 Braille books, including fiction, books for children and youth, textbooks and reference books.
