Converting menus to Braille

The Central Library for Blind and Reading Impaired People has the most sophisticated equipment and is the main center in Israel for conversion and production of Braille from printed text. Thanks to many years of experience and efficient work methods, we can convert menus to Braille comparatively quickly and at low-cost.

We believe that the blind and visually impaired community has a right to benefit from the same content and services that are available to the sighted community, and that a blind customer at a restaurant for a family occasion is entitled to read the menu independently and to receive the same information as appears on the printed menu.

The Library began producing menus in 2012, and our first successful collaboration was with the Café Greg chain. Since then we have produced menus for a variety of restaurants and chains, including Aroma, McDonalds, Cafe Elite – Expresso Bar, Black, Belini, Segev Express, the Mandarine chain, Tishbi Wineries, Pasta Mia and more.

In order to convert a menu to Braille we require the menu text as a Word or open PDF file. The text is then edited, printed and bound.
